We’re heavily involved with the local entrepreneurial community in Manchester and beyond. As such we regularly host joint events with the help of some fantastic partners. Partner events allow even deeper integration between student enterprise and academia.


Manchester Enterprise Centre’s two annual business idea competitions for University of Manchester students and alumni.

Manchester Enterprise Centre is based at the Manchester Business school and offers a variety of entrepreneurial competitions for students with business ideas or early age businesses. The competitions cater for ideas and business from a wide range of sectors, with particular focus on Graphene, which has its own category. To learn more about MEC, visit their website here.

Silicon Drinkabout is a weekly meet-up for startups and techies to meet like-minded people, have some fun and relax at the end of the working week. In Manchester, it is usually held every Friday at one of local enterprise hubs such as SpaceportX, HelloWork or Barclay’s Escalator. There’s no mandatory sign up, just come along and say hi!

Silicon Valley comes to the UK (SVC2UK) is a not-for-profit volunteer-led invitation-only series of events that bring together early stage investors, successful serial entrepreneurs, students and alumni with leading serial entrepreneurs and investors to discuss and debate how and why they have come to create and fund today’s most disruptive technologies that aim to change our world.
